Unable to have products that don't require shipping

Current Problem
Currently there is no option to mark a product as not needing to be shipped. We have products like an E-Gift Card that are sent via email and do not need to be shipped.
Idea to resolve Problem
Allow orders to be marked as no shipping required and then do not include the item when the rest of the order is packed
Surely you would add these as a DropShip SKU? Then they do not come through as a physical item on the order and means the picker / packer is not having to hunt around looking for a e gift card.
