Current Problem
It is not possible to manage pre-orders properly on Mintsoft. You can sell things in advance of stock arriving which is important however the problem is that Mintsoft seems to think that as soon as something that is on pre-order arrives in the warehouse that the orders can start to be fulfiled. 90%+ of the time in our instance is that is not the case as we need to book the stock into the warehouse and let it set there for a few weeks or so until the embargo date is up. I'm sure most people that's the case as you need to get the stock in from the manufacture a decent amount of time in advanced ahead of the release date. Ideally we'd be able to toggle invidivual products to say it's a pre-order item and even if there's stock available to ensure it can't be picked until it's ready. Even better if there was an embargo date on products to allow the release of product to be done automatically. The least favoured option, though probably still useful to develop is to be able to book in stock at the ASN stage but make it quarantined there and then too. |

Idea to resolve Problem | Add toggle to product to withold it from being picked and/or abaility to quarantine stock at ASN stage |
Found the quarantine on ASN wish - MST-I-263.
Voted for both tickets as they are linked (in my humble opinion!)
When we book stock in via goods in, each client has a 'GI-xxxx' location which is set to offhand so that we can process and check the delivery. When we are ready, we move the stock into pickface / bulk and this allows the orders to be picked. There is another wish on here somewhere about being able to quarantine stock at ASN level so maybe try and find that one and vote for it too.
We also use the 'pre-order' function in Mintsoft so that for individual SKU's it looks at 'required by backorder' and the 'incoming on ASN' values and publishes the remainder. This stop the overselling aspect which you don't mention but thought I'd highlight it in case you weren't aware of it.
