Support for Oversized Products Spanning Multiple Adjacent Shelf Locations

No description provided
Current Problem

In many warehouses, certain products are physically too large to fit into a single shelf or bin location. These items often occupy two or more adjacent spaces, but Mintsoft currently only allows a product to be stored in one location ID.

This creates confusion on the location map and empty location reports, as the neighbouring shelf appears available even though it’s physically blocked by an oversized product. It also makes space planning less accurate and increases the risk of pick errors.

Adding the ability to mark connected or “spanned” locations as occupied by the same item would provide a much more realistic view of warehouse utilisation.

Idea to resolve Problem Enable products to be checked in across multiple adjoining shelf or bin locations, linking them together under one parent item or SKU reference. Alternatively, introduce a way to flag adjacent locations as “partially occupied / overhang” so that they don’t appear as free or available in location maps and reports. This small enhancement would significantly improve space accuracy, picking visibility, and warehouse layout management, especially for users storing irregular or bulky items.

Or Mintsoft could just allow us to mark a location as inactive from a gun? This way not showing up on the map or empty location report?

Not sure how marking a product as being in 2 locations would work, as if there was only 1 in stock surely it would need 2 lines on the 'Products in locations' report so then you'd think you had 2 in stock?
