Thank you for the added information, moving to a new status to gain more votes before a decision is made on the idea.

    I can elaborate, sure.

Magento has the decimal quantity functionality for items that can be sold by weight or length. In our example, we want to sell rolls of articifical grass but we cut to the length the customer wants.

For example, We have 10 rolls of a particular artificial grass, each 10 meters giving us 100 meters in stock.

We allow a customer to choose how much grass they want in 0.25 meter increments. This allows them to tell us that they want 4.25, 4.5 or 4.75 for example and we cut it to length. We could also go as granular as 0.1 increments and they could choose an amount like 4.35 if they wanted.

This would allow the customer to get closer to the length they need without too much wastage and we know after their order of 4.75 meters that we still have 95.25 meters in stock.

It also means that in Magento, we price per 1 unit and it does the calculations on charged price for us.

If Mintsoft was capable of transferring the 4.75 in to Delta then we could process those products through Delta as well. Currently it is done outside of Delta.

I hope that clears things up?

    Thanks,
    David.

Excuse my ignorance to your situation but why would there be a requirement to ship a fraction of a product? We are dealing with stock in unit quantities - if a carton has 4 units it's either a carton as one unit or 4 single units rather than 0.25.

As I said, there may be a very specific reason for your request but I can't translate that into our operation, so basically I'm being nosey!
