We have a new customer that will require a specific item with a particular serial number to be sent. It would help us a lot if it was possible to add the items along with serial numbers on the ASN's to be checked when goods are booked in and then an area on an order creation to stipulate the serial number of the item that they wish to send.
The ASN function is live , why cant we scan a serial number in when using an ASN to book stock in . This effectively makes this function unusable for items with a serial number or multiple batches.
A lot of clients want a specific serial number picked for a variety of reasons , manufacturing reasons, certain items having different software or updates, item age . I have 2 very large customers that require this as standard.
Not all clients are happy with any serial or IMEI going , it depends on the setup and what the product is , IE mobile phones its just a case of know where it goes , but when they are using data communication systems there are certain batch and serial's that have to go to certain sites for some products.
Its not always black and white in the form of a process.
If this was done wouldn't you have to book each unit into a separate location or else you'd be rummaging through lots of stock to find the unit in question? We scan serial / IMEI etc at pack and this is transmitted to the client so they know who has had what.....
